What to do when your furnace won't turn on

If your furnace won't turn on, it's important to first diagnose the problem. Check for common issues like a tripped circuit breaker, a blown fuse, or an obstruction in the vents that are preventing air from flowing through your heating system. If these do not seem to be the issue, you may need to contact a certified HVAC technician for further assistance.

In some cases, the thermostat may be at fault if your furnace isn’t turning on. To check this, you can check and make sure your thermostat batteries are still working and replace them if necessary. Additionally, make sure that the temperature is set high enough for it to kick on and that nothing is obstructing the thermostat.

If your furnace still won’t turn on after troubleshooting these issues, it’s time to call a professional for further assistance. An HVAC technician can diagnose the problem and make sure that any necessary repairs are performed safely and correctly. If you do decide to contact a technician, make sure that they are certified and qualified to work on your heating system. Doing so will ensure that any problems with your furnace are properly addressed and fixed quickly so you can stay warm this winter!
